The rise of the Safavid state is considered the beginning of a new era in Iran's political, cultural, and social developments. The formalization of Shiism and the formation of a national state were the most important fruits of this great transformation, which was also reflected in the widespread use of Shiite slogans and the Persian language in the texts of the coins of the Safavid kings. Persian poetry constitutes an important part of the inscriptions on Safavid coins because the Safavid kings included their titles, as well as their Shiite beliefs, in the form of Persian poetry on their coins, which is considered an innovation of the Safavid era. The present study seeks to examine the Persian poems written on the coins of the Safavid kings and to determine the reasons for mentioning these poems on these coins. The aim of this research is to demonstrate the application of numismatic studies in recognizing developments in the Safavid era. This research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and its information was collected using library resources. The results of this research show that due to the widespread popularity of poetry in Safavid society, they used Persian poems in their coin inscriptions, and some of these poems reflect some of the political, cultural, and religious developments of this era. Also, until the era of Mohammad Khodabandeh, rare coins from the Safavids contained Persian poems, but from the era of Abbas II until the end of this reign, Persian verses were written on Safavid coins in great abundance.
